These days, it seems everybody is into cd ripping. Internet sites and magazine ads are full of tips and tricks and advice for those looking to rip music from their cd collections. What is it about ripping mp3 files from cds that makes it so appealing? The two biggest reasons why people rip cds likely have to do with individuality and convenience.

Choose the songs YOU like

When you rip an mp3 from cd, over and over again, you are actually taking steps to create your own personalized music library. Because you have the ability to pick and choose the audio tracts you convert to mp3, you’re actually able to select only those tunes that you enjoy listening to the most.

Besides a “Greatest Hits” type of music cd, on a typical cd there’s generally just a handful of songs that you like. The others just take up space. You might even think they’re duds. When you purchase a cd, you’re paying to purchase all those other songs, whether you want them all or not.

CD rip software lets you decide which of the songs you want to rip and which ones you don’t. And in doing so, you are deciding which of the song files you upload to your mp3 player. If you’re willing to invest a little time and effort, you’ll be able to create custom-designed play lists and music mixes of hundreds of different songs – all of which are songs that you want to hear.

What’s even better is that much of the cd rip software available today includes advanced editing features that make it easy to organize your music. For example, you can organize the music library you create by genre, by artist, by cd and more!

Take your cd rips anywhere

So, now that you’ve painstakingly hand-crafted your own personalized music play list, what will you do with it? Those songs you rip from cd and load onto your mp3 player are now able to go with you everywhere you go. That’s right. Wherever you go – whether it’s to work, to the gym, to the store, to the library, to your friend’s house, to bed, on an airplane, on a hike, on a vacation, while driving your car – you’re able to take your favorite music along with you. And you won’t have to pack an extra bag just to drag along your cd collection!

In fact, when you rip mp3 files from cd and then load them onto your mp3 player, you will never again have to physically get up to change a cd! That’s right. In fact, most standard mp3 players can store the equivalent of 500 cds and that’s a LOT of songs. Do you realize what that means? It means that you can listen to music for hours and hours without ever hassling with your cds again. How’s THAT for convenience?

Individuality and convenience. Those are the 2 reasons why cd ripping is so HOT right now.
