I’ve submitted my websites to the web directories out there over the years. And sure, it gave me some back links and even a little boost in my search engine ranking. But the one thing it didn’t get me was traffic, something I critically needed early on. I could have used AdWords, but without a budget it was out of the question. It was going to be organic traffic growth, or nothing else.

Recently I saw an article that discussed a second benefit to web directories. The benefit described was using web directories to find back link partners, it’s a good idea and helps more than just the web directory link alone. I found quite a few good link exchange partners this way, but it still wasn’t enough.

Fortunately for me, the solution was simple. I created my own web directory that provides a third benefit as well as back links and link exchange partners. My website should also produce real traffic from internet users interested in your website. The website I created combines traditional web directory submission and real article content categorized and positioned right beside your submitted website.

So, here’s how it works: A webmaster treats the web directory like a traditional directory and submits their site for inclusion and waits a couple days for approval. So far, so good. Along side their website is a list of articles that is regularly updated for your average web surfer to find on their favorite search engine. They see the list of articles and see your website listing and sometimes they click one and sometimes they click the other. Presto, you have some web traffic long before you will see by other organic means.

Web directories are a pretty good place to get a back link, but there are new ways out there to get things going just a little bit faster, I think you just found one.
