We all love this time of year; when the changing colors of the leaves create breathtaking landscapes. These are the colors that paint our memories of fall, just as keenly as the smell of warm, baked apple pie. Sadly, Mother Nature’s brilliant artwork lasts but a few short weeks each year. Soon the leaves will all have fallen, and the cold ground will be left brown and barren.

Fall is definitely an arts and crafts time of year. Your back yard is actually a personal treasure trove that holds all the accessories you need to keep the boldness of fall alive throughout the autumnal months. (You can also make a quick dash to the local dollar store or public park, if necessary.) With the found items you collect, you can add some artistic and seasonal panache to your room décor.

Start with a self-standing pillar candle in a bright yellow, orange, or red. Remember that pillar candles must alwayd be burned on a heat-resistant surface and never leave a burning candle unattented. Now add decorative accoutrements to create a fun, seasonal display. You may choose hay, Spanish moss, twigs, berries, preserved leaves, fruits of the seaon, such as apples, small gourds, pumpkins, or decorative ribbons. How about harvesting acorns or pinecones from your yard or a public park?(Don't forget to put some aside for winter crafts.) You can leave your accessories in their natural state; or use acrylics or spray paint in colors to compliment your pillar candle. Now arrange the accessories around the pillar candle, and there you have it: a wonderful seasonal table centerpiece or display for a bay window or fireplace mantel.

Experiment and have fun! Adding lovely fall décor to your home doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. You can adorn as many rooms as you like without putting a dent in your decorating budget.
