Few toys embody the thought of Christmas morning like a wooden train set. Children for years have delighted in the uniqueness of these wonderful toys that so simplistically capture their imagination and fascination. When kids tell Santa what they want for Christmas in the coming weeks, he is sure to hear more than a few want a new wooden train set. Many of us remember that Christmas morning many years ago when we received our first wooden train set from Santa and look forward to our children obtaining that same fond memory.

The Wooden Train Set

In today’s environment, where fun is too often defined by the number of batteries included, wooden train sets are a welcome return to a time where the only limitation on the amount of fun a toy could provide was the limitations of a child’s imagination – in other words, there is no limitation. Pretending to engineer a real train through snow covered mountain tunnels and over long bridges over deep canyons, a wooden train set can provide hours of endless fun for your child. For this reason, the wooden train set is an extremely popular pretend play toy in any season.

There are so many ideas for your child to utilize his or her wooden train set. We often use cotton balls and empty thread spools for our wooden train set to cart around the tracks and deliver all of the important “wool” and “barrels of oil” to the many who need them. An engineer hat that is always worn while engineering the wooden train set is another great idea for your child to look the part. However you and your child decide to use the wooden train set really doesn’t matter as long as the play includes a healthy dose of imagination.

The Wooden Train Set Table

Setting up a wooden train set on the living room floor can cause frustration for your child. First of all, with the texture of the floor such as carpeting, the tracks will rest uneven making maneuverability extremely difficult. An additional problem with setting up a wooden train set on the floor is that, well, it’s on the floor. As a result, the family dog will run across it, a younger sibling will crawl across it or Dad will break a track when he steps on it in the middle of the night. Lastly, by setting up the wooden train set on the floor, it necessitates being put away when playtime is finished. The age-old cliché, “out of sight, out of mind” is especially true with toys. Pretty soon the wooden train set will be all but forgotten and that $75 set will be another forgotten toy taking up space in your child’s closet. A wooden train set table is the solution to all of the above stated problems and frustrations.

The wooden train set table is raised off the floor being the perfect height for your child to play and easily reach the tracks and accompanying pieces. The wooden train set table provides a designated space that can stay in your child’s room or playroom. No longer will Dad need to worry about stepping on the wooden train set on his late night trip to the refrigerator. No longer will your child throw her hands up in disgust because her younger brother ran across the wooden train set tracks. Best of all, by having a wooden train set table you will not worry about your child’s wooden train set becoming a “forgotten toy” as it can always sit out in its own special, designated spot.

Wooden train set tables come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors in which to choose. Some even have add-on trundles that are perfect storage for the wooden train set, wooden train tracks, and train accessories. Many wooden train set tables also have realistic designs on the table such as rivers and mountains that further encourages your child’s imaginative play. And with the varying colors and finishes of the wooden train set tables on the market today, you are sure to find a wooden train set table that will meet you and your child’s needs.
