Almost every fax machine these days will have a “phone book” to store numbers, but you may want to find one that let’s you send to pre-made groups at the push of a button. That saves a lot of time.

If you don’t have a dedicated fax phone line you’ll need a machine that can easily share a line. In this situation, or if you send a lot of faxes throughout the day, you will want a system that can transmit and receive data quickly. Speed does matter.

Other than that, you should think about what kind of documents you send and receive. Not all machines are color and not all color is created equal. Once you’ve thought all of these things through, your shopping trip should go a lot smoother.
