Hair care is a billion dollar industry yet any expert will tell you the simplest routine is best. Your mother will tell you that your grandmother’s homemade recipe to clarify or cleanse your hair should be done when hair feels as though there is a build up or a dull look to the shine of your hair. The following recipe is very effective and costs pennies to do. Your friends will want to know what your secret is!
You Will Need:
One whole egg beaten-table spoons of mayonnaise
A bowl to mix the above
Bring your tools to the sink you wish to use. Doing this in the shower is not advisable as you will end up smelling every bit like a salad! Mix your ingredients together, wet your hair, squeeze out the excess water, and then gently apply and massage the treatment into your scalp. The scalp is where you find the buildup attached, so feel free to give it a good scrub with your finger pads, but not with your nails. Allow your hair to rest for 3 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
For a deep conditioning treatment, warm up a hair towel in the microwave. To do this, grab a towel that works well in wrapping your hair up in. Dampen the towel and ring out excess. Put in the microwave for 1 minute, and then check to be sure it’s not too hot, and wrap your hair up. Leave in place for 30 minutes. Rinse well with warm water, then shampoo with your normal shampoo. No conditioner necessary. Enjoy the clean and healthy feeling!
Do you or your friends have red hair? If so, here is a treatment designed just for you!
1 cup of any kind of dark berry juice
½ cup of Rose hips
½ cup of Cloves
¼ cup of strong black coffee
Apply as much of this mixture as your hair will hold and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse through with warm water. No conditioner necessary. The flame will return to your hair using this treatment!
Here is a quick tip known to work, yet is so easy. Before spending the day at the beach or the pool, wet your hair down at home before leaving. This will help minimize damage from salt or chlorine water to your hair as your hair will have soaked up purer water first.
Fighting the frizz? A deep conditioning treatment once a week is the solution. Take 1 banana and mix with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (any oil is fine), and mix together. Apply through your hair and come down smooth. Leave on 1 minute, and then rinse out with warm water. This is not a straightening treatment, but one that will help your wavy hair retain moisture while keeping frizz to a minimal.
Mom and Grandma really do know best. Their at home treatments are tried and proven. Save your money for fun and do your hair in the kitchen!
