Spring time is also known as the season for weddings. When this season is around the corner, people start preparing for weddings. Whether it is asking the services of BBQ catering or ordering exquisite attire, you need prior planning. However, wedding catering can also confirm your orders on short notices. The remaining bigger problem is that of wedding attire. Usually, the guests in a wedding ceremony are really conscious about their outfit.
The big question is what to wear? Even before that you must know what not to wear. There has been an ongoing debate whether female guests can wear a white outfit to a wedding ceremony. People believe that no one except the bride is supposed to wear white. There are some who do not think it to be relevant, but others follow the rule strictly. However, moderate school of thought allows wearing white to someone's wedding unless it does not look like a bridal outfit.
So be careful if you are planning to wear a white gown to someone’s wedding. This might be considered as going against wedding etiquettes. In western culture, a guest who wears white is actually competing against the bride. It is not just white, but all its shades should be avoided for good which includes cream, ivory and bone in the list of colors that you cannot wear to a wedding.
A wedding is the day in which a woman wants her own bridal moment but just imagine what will happen if a model dressed in a white gown shows up. Obviously, this will leave the bride unhappy. You just do not want to steal the spotlight from a bride and that too, on her big day. This is the main reason why brides get offended if some guest shows up in white.
In addition to this, wearing white on someone else's wedding is impolite. This is a color reserved specially for the bride. The color symbolizes youth and purity and in this category, only a bride is justified to wear it. Besides, it is just one color that you have to avoid. There are plenty other options to choose from.
Apart from white, there are other colors that should be avoided as they are attention grabbers. For instance, wearing red to a wedding is just not on. Although it is not a bridal color, it can still catch the attention of all guests in no time. Although, you never intended to out stage the bride, wearing a bright color will give you away. As mentioned earlier, it is really rude to divert attention from the bride.
Plus, you must avoid wearing opera length gloves as it is part of a bride's attire. The gloves up to the top of the arm are acceptable only when you are wearing sleeveless gowns.
On someone else's wedding, try the attire in which you cannot out stage the bride. For instance, a pastel suit or a soft floral dress will be ideal for a daytime occasion. As for a night time or evening party, you will do fine in a dress with a tinge of black.
